“Two More Doctors Arrested in Plateau for Alleged Organ Harvesting”

By  Milcah  Tanimu

In a significant development, the Plateau State Police Command has apprehended two additional medical doctors linked to the alleged organ harvesting activities involving suspected fake doctor Noah Kekere. The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Alabo Alfred, disclosed this during a statement to the News Agency of Nigeria in Jos.

These new suspects, alongside Kekere, are currently in police custody and are under investigation. Kekere, who is suspected of posing as a doctor, was recently arrested following accusations of illegally harvesting a woman’s kidney during surgery.

The Plateau Chapter of the Nigerian Medical Association had previously disassociated itself from Kekere, asserting that investigations had shown he was not a licensed medical practitioner.

While not revealing the identities of the two additional suspects, Alabo mentioned that the Commissioner of Police in the state would soon establish a high-powered committee of medical experts. This committee will conduct an in-depth examination of the woman who alleged that Kekere removed one of her vital organs during surgery. The objective is to determine whether the victim’s organ was indeed tampered with.

Alabo stated, “We have arrested two additional suspects who actually conducted the surgery on the said woman. The Commissioner of Police will constitute a committee of seasoned medical experts to look into these allegations with a view to getting to the root of the matter.”

The ongoing investigation has thus far revealed that Kekere lacked the proper medical training and credentials he had been purporting to possess. Kekere’s arrest came after a businessman, Alhaji Kamal, accused him of removing one of his wife’s kidneys during surgery in 2018. Kamal’s wife, Kehinde, had been suffering from chronic stomach pain for five years, leading to her admission to Kekere’s clinic in Nasarawa Gwom Community, Jos North Local Government Area, where the surgery took place.
