Police launch an investigation after a missing Abuja undergraduate is discovered deceased

Blessing Karami, a National Open University of Nigeria undergraduate student in Abuja, who had been reported missing on September 11, has been discovered deceased in the Karimo area of the Federal Capital Territory. The police have now shifted their primary focus towards conducting a thorough and unbiased investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death.

The young woman was declared missing after she left her workplace in Abuja’s Garki area before closing hours on September 11, 2023. Following inquiries into her disappearance, the Divisional Police Headquarters in Durumi, Abuja, apprehended an individual named Aminu, identified as the deceased’s boyfriend.

Blessing’s elder brother, Genesis Karami, informed the police that he received a suspicious call providing information about his sister’s corpse. The caller accurately described the clothing she had been wearing on the day she went missing. However, when they attempted to locate the body, the caller continuously changed locations, leaving them frustrated. Eventually, they confirmed Blessing’s demise and found her decomposed body in the Karmo bush area.

In response to these developments, the Federal Capital Territory Police Command Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, asserted their commitment to uncovering the truth behind Blessing Karami’s untimely death. She acknowledged the sensitive nature of the situation and mentioned their collaboration with the Abuja Environmental Protection Board to handle the retrieval of the decomposed remains respectfully.

Adeh concluded by expressing condolences to the family and loved ones of Blessing Karami Moses during this challenging period.
