Manchester United went into halftime trailing 2–0 against Leeds United, with the first half exposing major tactical weaknesses and defensive lapses.
Leeds dominated from the outset, pressing aggressively and exploiting gaps in United’s setup. Their control was especially evident on the flanks, where they repeatedly found space and delivered dangerous crosses, leaving United’s defence under constant pressure.
Much of the criticism has been directed at manager Michael Carrick, particularly over his team selection. One decision that drew attention was the inclusion of Noussair Mazraoui, whose side of the defence was consistently targeted and exposed by Leeds, contributing to the goals conceded.
Another major talking point was Carrick’s choice to leave Bryan Mbeumo on the bench. Without his pace and attacking threat, United lacked creativity and penetration in the final third, making their play predictable and easier for Leeds to manage.
These tactical decisions left United unbalanced both defensively and offensively, allowing Leeds to take firm control of the game and head into the break with a comfortable lead.
