During the swearing-in ceremony, Wike emphasized the importance of urgency, dedication, and selflessness in discharging their duties.

Before assuming this role, Charles Elechi, a lawyer by profession, served two terms as Commissioner for Agriculture and Transport in Abia State. Additionally, several other secretaries were inaugurated during the ceremony, including Dr. Adedolapo Fasawe for the Health and Environmental Services secretariat, Uboku Nyah for the Transportation secretariat, Salman Dako for the Legal Services secretariat, and Bitrus Garki for the Area Council Services secretariat, among others.

Minister Wike urged the newly appointed secretaries to work diligently and selflessly to contribute to the realization of President Bola Tinubu’s vision for the accelerated development and transformation of the Federal Capital Territory into a world-class Capital Territory.

In a statement issued by the FCTA Head of Information, Dr. Nnachi Okafor, the inauguration took place in Abuja on Thursday night. Wike addressed various challenges affecting the development of the FCT, emphasizing the importance of addressing issues related to revenue generation, environmental sanitation, public health, infrastructure development, security challenges, education, agriculture, food security, and satellite towns development.

He highlighted the need for a reliable and comprehensive public transportation system, stating that no modern city can function effectively without one. Wike called for transparency and accountability in revenue generation and procurement processes to boost the Internally Generated Revenue of the FCT and prevent leaks in the system. He stressed the significance of raising funds to support the development agenda and finance ambitious projects and initiatives planned for the region.
