Amid a warning from the CP (Commissioner of Police) regarding allegations of organ disappearance, a mob in the Gwagwalada Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory attacked an unidentified man on Thursday.
The attack stemmed from the man named John sounding the alarm that his male organ had gone missing after an encounter with an unknown person. Infuriated by his claim, a furious mob surrounded him, severely beating him, and demanding the restoration of the alleged missing organ.
A commercial driver, who wishes to remain anonymous, informed our correspondent on Friday that the incident occurred at approximately 8 p.m. on Thursday. According to him, it required police intervention to rescue the man, who was subsequently rushed to a nearby hospital.
He recounted, “Yesterday, around 8 p.m., a crowd gathered at Phase 2 in Gwagwalada after a man cried out for help, claiming that he had lost his manhood after an encounter with another man. The crowd began beating him, demanding that he confess to what he had done to the man and return his ‘manhood’ to him. The beating continued until the police arrived. It was the police who transported him to the hospital.”
When contacted, Josephine Adeh, the spokesperson for the FCT police, confirmed the incident but revealed that the man attacked by the mob had unfortunately passed away. She added that the individual who had falsely raised the alarm had been arrested.
Adeh explained, “Upon receiving a distress call, our officers immediately rushed to the scene to rescue him and provided medical treatment. Unfortunately, he was later pronounced dead due to the severe injuries he had sustained.”
She emphasized that the Commissioner of Police had strongly condemned false allegations of organ disappearance and the ensuing mob violence, asserting that such actions would not be tolerated in the FCT.
