NGO Provides Financial Assistance to Critically Ill Patients and Parents at FCT Hospital

By Daniel Edu

The Supportive Mother’s Club, an NGO, extended a helping hand to critically ill patients and their parents at Nyanya General Hospital in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) by making cash donations to offset their medical expenses and provide essential medical supplies.

Hajiya Larai Shira, the President of the NGO, emphasized that this generous gesture aimed to alleviate the financial burden of hospital bills and the difficulties faced by families, particularly in these times of economic hardship.

“We understand that the current times are very challenging, and there are individuals who are in dire need and lack a source of income, support, or a place to turn to for assistance with their medical expenses,” Shira stated. “As mothers, we believe in extending a helping hand to families, indigent individuals, and the less privileged, to provide support to those in need.”

Shira also encouraged Nigerians to offer assistance to the less privileged and marginalized members of society, particularly during this period of economic hardship. She stressed that individuals who have the means should not wait for the government to address all the needs, as there are actions that the privileged can take to help those who require it.

Mr. Christopher Simon, the father of a two-year-old girl named Trinity, expressed his gratitude for the timely cash donation, which would significantly ease the financial burden of his daughter’s treatment.

Similarly, Mrs. Zuwaira Abdullahi, a mother of twins, expressed her appreciation for the organization’s support, concern, and care for the less privileged members of society.

Mrs. Elizabeth Ndoba, the mother of a one-year-old baby battling sickle cell anemia, highlighted the constant need for medical attention for her daughter. She expressed her gratitude for the cash donation, emphasizing that it came precisely when her family needed it most.

The organization provided undisclosed cash donations to several patients in the neonatal, pediatric, and gynecologist wards at the hospital, making a positive impact on those in need.
