Tinubu Welcomes Supreme Court Verdict, Calls for Support from Nigerians

By  Milcah  Tanimu

President Bola Tinubu has welcomed the Supreme Court’s verdict, which upheld his electoral victory in the February 25 Presidential Election. He has also sought the support of Nigerians, promising to exceed expectations in terms of service delivery during the remaining years of his administration.

In a personal statement signed by the President, titled ‘It is time for us to build our great nation together,’ he expressed his deep gratitude to God Almighty and a profound sense of responsibility to address the challenges facing the nation.

The Supreme Court, in its ruling, dismissed the appeals by the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, and his Labour Party counterpart, Peter Obi. A seven-judge panel found no merit in the opposition appeals, which alleged fraud, electoral law violations, and Tinubu’s ineligibility to run for president.

Tinubu lauded the Supreme Court’s verdict as a consolidation of Nigeria’s electoral jurisprudence and constitutional democracy, embedding them more firmly in the national consciousness. He commended the seven judges for their diligence and professionalism.

The President emphasized his unwavering faith in the nation’s judiciary, noting that the courts of law will continue to administer justice to all Nigerians in accordance with the law.

Despite pressure and attempts at intimidation by certain political actors, the judiciary demonstrated its commitment to upholding the rule of law, Tinubu stated. He reiterated that the governing All Progressives’ Congress had legitimately won the popular mandate of Nigerians, leading to his leadership of the nation during a period of unprecedented reforms in the country’s history.
