Gov Diri rounds off campaign in Yenagoa, receives defectors

Amgbare Ekaunkumo, Yenagoa

After more than one month of exhaustive campaigns all around Bayelsa state, Gov. Douye Diri finally rounded off his campaigns in Yenagoa Constituency 1 with a promise to continue his developmental agenda for Epie/Atisa people if elected for a second tenure in office.

The people of Epie/Attisa came out in large numbers to give the governor and his campaign train a rousing reception.

The governor’s first point of call was Igbogene, where he was conferred with a chieftaincy title of “Otoroto Ibe” meaning the “Moonlight of Epie/Attisa”.

Former Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki who was one of the dignitaries present at the rally called on the people to vote massively for Gov. Douye Diri to enable him continue the infrastructural and human capital development of the state.

The Obenibe 1 of Epie/Attisa kingdom, King Malam Sasime was also on ground to receive Gov. Douye Diri and his campaign train.

In his remarks, Gov. Douye Diri thanked the Epie/Attisa people for the resounding reception and for always supporting PDP in all elections right from 1999 till date, assuring them of his government commitment to a sustained developmental strides in Epie/Attisa if voted into office for a second tenure.

“Your support to the Prosperity Administration is a call to more duty. When you give me your mandate for a second term, l will do more for Epie and Atissa kingdoms. This is because the gateway to Bayelsa State is Yenagoa, the capital city, which needs development. Therefore, our goal is to continue to develop our capital city just as we are taking development closer to the rural areas for our development to be holistic.

“We have almost completed the Elebele-Igbogene ring road. We have inaugurated different sections and just one section is left, which will equally be inaugurated so that the one-road city status narrative about Yenagoa will change.

“Now, we have multiple roads in Yenagoa. We have many concrete and street roads that were earth roads. Today, people can drive to their houses without parking vehicles on the roadside as we used to do when we had only the Mbiama-Yenagoa road.”

Epie/Attisa leaders from all walks of life spoke at the rally, promising to deliver 100% for PDP in the Nov. 11,2023 election.

At the rallies, thousands of defectors from the APC and other parties joined the PDP.

Other dignitaries at the rally include Hon. Mietema Obodor, DG of the campaign council, Senator Emmanuel Paulker, Hon. Ayibanengiyefa Egba, member representing Yenagoa Constituency 1 in the state House of Assembly, Mr. Lambert Ototo, Dr. Patterson Ogon among others.
