Tottenham Hotspur’s James Maddison is ruled out until January due to an ankle injury, as confirmed by Manager Ange Postecoglou. The 26-year-old midfielder suffered the setback during Tottenham’s recent 4-1 defeat to Chelsea in the Premier League. Gareth Southgate had previously excluded Maddison from the England squad for the 2024 European Championship qualifiers in November.

Postecoglou disclosed that Maddison’s injury is more serious than initially assessed, prompting a scan after the discomfort surfaced post-match. Adding to the team’s woes, Micky van de Ven, a recent addition from Wolfsburg, will also be sidelined with a hamstring injury sustained in the same game.

The Spurs face additional challenges with Richarlison recovering from groin surgery, rendering him unavailable. Defenders Cristian Romero and Destiny Udogie will miss the upcoming Premier League clash against Wolves due to suspension following red cards in the match against Chelsea. Postecoglou acknowledges the difficulties posed by these absences as Tottenham prepares for their next fixture.
