Kaduna: Confusion as family disclaims dead body dumps by bandits

*Say’s not their father’s body

By Achadu Gabriel, Kaduna

The family of a kidnapped victim, Hakimi Kujama Mr. Stephen Ibrahim, in Kujama, Chikun LGA of Kaduna State, has reportedly disclaimed a dead body dumped at Sabon Gaya along Kaduna- Abuja highway by bandits, claiming that the body is not their father’s corpse as speculated.

Eyewitness account said, bandits that kidnapped Stephen Ibrahim, about two weeks ago reportedly called the family of the victim and asked them to pick the dead body of their father from the area.

Recalled that Mr. Ibrahim, Hakimi Kujama, was reportedly kidnapped by bandits along with his closest friend from his hotel in Kujama area of the state about two weeks ago and bandits later demanded N50 million ransom.

But family relations last Saturday confirmed to our correspondent that the disclaimed dead body was later discovered to be that of his friend kidnapped along with Hakimi.

It was earlier alleged that the Mr. Ibrahim was killed by the bandits and the body was brought and dumped in his house at Ungwam Pama, which was later discovered to be false when our correspondent visited the area.

A report had it that the Hakimi Kujama, resident in U/Pama in Sabon Tasha area has been going to the hotel and returned most times late, and have been advised by friends and well wishers to desist, but he turned deaf ears to all the advises.

At the time of filing this report, it was not clear whether a woman allegedly kidnapped alongside with the Hakimi has been released or not, but the killing of his friend, an Adara man, has been confirmed.

Confirming the incident Saturday, a family friend, Barrister Haruna John, told our correspondent coldly with emotions that the dead body dumped by the bandits was actually that of Ibrahim’s best friend, an Adara man, who was killed by the bandits, saying Mr. Ibrahim’s daughter who called in confirmed the Father’s voice still in bandits captivity.

He said the body was later removed and taken to St. Gerald Catholic hospital in Kaduna state or thereabout.

Contacted for clarification, the Kaduna police command spokesman Mansur Hassan could not respond before press time.
