NDLEA Captures Indian Hemp Farmer in Sokoto State

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Sokoto State office, apprehended Anas Sani, a 32-year-old Indian hemp farmer in Sokoto. The discovery was made in the Sanyinna area of Tambuwal Local Government Area following an intelligence report. The hemp was strategically planted on a maize farm, using a foreign and potent variety. This marks the first time such a farm has been uncovered in the state, prompting the NDLEA to advocate for intensified campaigns and patrols to deter locals from engaging in illicit activities. Anas Sani, a father of two, admitted to learning the business while running a provision shop in Lagos. Despite discouragement from his elder brother, he ventured into the trade, expressing gratitude for being apprehended before reaping any benefits. Sani acknowledged his readiness to face the consequences, hoping it would serve as a deterrent to others interested in the unlawful business.
