Delta Police Apprehend Church Robbery Syndicate Responsible for String of Break-ins

Two suspects linked to a notorious church robbery syndicate have been captured by the police in Delta State. The arrests followed a series of church break-ins during which musical instruments were stolen.

Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe, disclosed that the suspects were apprehended on November 19, 2023, after a break-in at the Redeemed Christian Church of God, “Dominion Mega,” where several musical instruments were stolen.

CSP Paul Obaware, the Divisional Police Officer of Orerokpe Division, swiftly organized an operation after receiving a report on November 17, 2023. Detectives, acting on information about a stolen amplifier being offered for sale on Facebook by one suspect, Patrick Emete, lured and apprehended him at Effurun Roundabout.

Emete’s confession led to the arrest of his associate, Alex Uwagbafor. The police recovered a substantial amount of stolen items, including loudspeakers, generator sets, mixers, amplifiers, keyboards, industrial standing fans, a drum set, a guitar, electronic devices, and household appliances.

Further investigation revealed another church burglary on November 30, 2023, corroborated by the suspects. Additional stolen items were recovered in Eburu Street, Warri. The seized items included loudspeakers, power amplifiers, mixers, DJ decks, generators, microphones, a projector, drums, and a stabilizer.

The police assured ongoing efforts to recover more stolen items and affirmed that the suspects would face prosecution upon the investigation’s conclusion. Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Wale Abass, emphasized the commitment to reducing criminal activities during the festivities and urged public support by sharing credible information with the police.
