Modupeola Durojaye raised an alarm after her car, a Black 2018 Toyota Sienna with registration number AA447GS, was seized by armed robbers posing as police officers on Monday night along the Benin-Sagamu Expressway in Ogun State.
The incident occurred when Durojaye’s husband, driving the car home around 8:30 pm, was stopped by individuals with flashlights who pretended to be police officers. After being tricked into parking, the armed men attacked him and fled with the car. Durojaye reported that her husband, still traumatized by the incident, sustained injuries while defending himself during the struggle.
Describing the incident, she stated, “They were masked, and the incident happened swiftly. It was a struggle between my husband and the criminals. He suffered serious injuries as they attacked him with a machete and other harmful weapons.”
In addition to the car, the robbers took valuables, including a gold wristwatch and ring. Durojaye mentioned that her husband had to obtain an affidavit because the attackers also took his purse containing his bank ATM card and driving license.
The spokesperson for the Ogun Police Command, Omolola Odutola, was contacted for a response but was unavailable at the time. Messages sent to her remained unanswered as of the time of filing this report.
