Outrage as teacher allegedly flogs Lagos pupil to death

Must read

Araromi Ilogbo Secondary School in Oko Afo, Lagos, witnessed chaos as students protested the alleged death of their peer, David Babadipo, who was reportedly flogged by a teacher named Oluwale. The incident, which occurred on Thursday, led to pandemonium within the school premises and beyond.

Sixteen-year-old David, who had been unwell for days, was said to have been rushed to the hospital after the alleged flogging, where he was later confirmed dead. In a video circulating online, students can be seen running in disarray, with a background voice narrating that the pupil wanted to go out to buy something when the teacher’s actions supposedly led to his demise.

Online reactions expressed outrage, with concerns about the teacher’s fate in the aftermath of the incident. However, conflicting accounts emerged, as some disputed the claim that the pupil was flogged to death. A Facebook user, Esther Wusu, countered the narrative, stating that Mr. Oluwale was the school’s vice principal, and the student had been sick since Tuesday, with the parent allegedly neglecting to seek medical attention.

On a different note, another Facebook user, Bangose Jide, reported the incident, attributing the alleged death to Mr. Olawale, the vice principal. The case was said to have been reported to the Morogbo Police Station on Badagry Expressway, Lagos State.

As of the report’s filing, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, had not confirmed whether the case was officially reported. Efforts to obtain comments from the school were also unsuccessful.
