Super Eagles goalkeeper, Stanley Nwabali, was honored with a chieftaincy title on Sunday by the traditional ruler of Mgbede community in Egbema Kingdom, Rivers State, Nzeobi Amida.
The title bestowed upon him, “Ugo Egbema – The Pride of Egbema Kingdom,” was in recognition of his outstanding performance at the recently concluded 2023 African Cup of Nations in Cote D’Ivoire, as reported by Nigerian sports website, BSN.
Amuda, who also serves as the chairman of ONELGA Council of Chiefs, emphasized that Nwabali’s contribution to the success of the Super Eagles brought honor to Egbema Kingdom and ONELGA.
Earlier in the week, Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, presented Nwabali with a gift of N20 million and bestowed upon him the honor of Distinguished Service Star of Rivers State in acknowledgment of his achievements.
Additionally, President Bola Tinubu honored each player and official of the Nigerian Super Eagles with the Member of the Order of the Niger national award for securing the silver medal at the AFCON tournament.
