Ogun Assembly Urges Procurement of Tracking Equipment for Security Agencies After Speaker’s Niece’s Murder

The Ogun State House of Assembly convened on Thursday to address the escalating incidents of kidnapping and murder in the state, particularly in the wake of the tragic killing of Miss Temitope Elemide, niece to the Speaker of the Assembly, Oludaisi Elemide.

Miss Elemide, a 20-year-old admission seeker, was reportedly raped and murdered on Sunday in the Bosero community of Olodo, Odeda Local Government Area.

During the plenary session presided over by Speaker Elemide, legislators including Babatunde Tella and Adebisi Oyedele highlighted the urgent need to confront the rising insecurity in the state, emphasizing the alarming prevalence of kidnapping and ritual killings.

They lamented the recent murder of a JAMB candidate, underscoring the pervasive nature of such crimes across Ogun State.

In response, the Assembly passed a resolution urging the state government to equip security agencies with tracking equipment and other necessary resources to bolster their effectiveness in combating crime and ensuring the safety of residents throughout the state.
