Oxlade Shares Loss of N400 Million Endorsements Due to Sex Tape Scandal

By Daniel Edu

Ikuforiji Olaitan, better known as Oxlade, a Nigerian singer, recently revealed the ordeal he faced after his sex tape was leaked online, resulting in the loss of endorsement deals worth over N400 million.

The leaked video, which surfaced on Snapchat in February 2022, caused widespread controversy and outrage. Speaking on the Afrobeats Intelligence Podcast, Oxlade disclosed that he had been targeted for blackmail with the video before its unauthorized release.

Despite the initial distress, Oxlade expressed a sense of relief when the tape went public, as it put an end to the extortion attempts. Nevertheless, he acknowledged the detrimental impact the scandal had on his family, mental well-being, and professional image. The aftermath led him into a dark period, prompting him to seek rehabilitation in the UK.

Spyro’s Struggle with Delayed Success

In a separate revelation, Nigerian singer Oludipe Oluwasanmi David, known as Spyro, shared his personal journey on the Tea With Tay podcast. Spyro recounted his disappointment upon witnessing his peers, such as Fireboy DML and Oxlade, achieve fame before him, despite his efforts, including paying for music promotion on various platforms.

However, Spyro reflected on his delayed success and realized it was a lesson in humility and reliance on divine grace rather than mere talent. His story serves as a testament to the unpredictable nature of success in the music industry and the importance of perseverance amidst setbacks.
