Fake Doctor Arrested in Plateau State

The Plateau State chapter of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) revealed on Wednesday the apprehension of a suspected fake doctor accused of conducting medical treatments in schools and places of worship across the state.

Dr. Bapigaan Audu, the state chairman of NMA, along with the association’s Public Relations Officer, Dr. Istifanus Bako, announced the arrest in a statement. The suspect, operating under aliases like George Ossai and Kelvin Paul, was captured in the Jos metropolis following a collaborative investigation between NMA and state Ministry of Health officials.

The individual was subsequently transferred to the police headquarters in Jos for detention. The NMA emphasized the importance of reporting any suspected fake doctors to the association or the Inspectorate Unit at the state’s Ministry of Health.

The association commended the security agencies for their cooperation and urged the public to seek healthcare services exclusively from licensed professionals in recognized health facilities. This development follows a previous incident in September last year when the police arrested Noah Kekere, another suspected quack doctor, accused of unlawfully removing a woman’s kidney during surgery, as reported by the press.
