In a bid to boost the morale of police personnel engaged in the ongoing fight against insecurity, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun has approved the promotion of ten thousand, five hundred and eighty-one (10,581) deserving junior officers from the Inspectorate Cadre and the Rank and File.

Under the guidance of Deputy Inspector-General of Police (DIG) Bala Ciroma, who oversees the Department of Finance and Administration, alongside the Commissioner of Police (Welfare), efforts are underway to initiate the promotion process as directed by the IGP.

Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumiyiwa Adejobi, relayed this information in Abuja, specifying that the promotions include 9,831 Police Constables ascending to the rank of Corporal, eighty-one (81) Corporals advancing to the rank of Sergeant, and six hundred and sixty-nine (669) officers elevating from Sergeants to Inspectors.

Emphasizing the commitment of the Force leadership to meritocracy and career progression, the IGP stressed the significance of timely promotions in boosting officers’ morale and enhancing overall operational efficiency.

He underscored the role of promotions as a cornerstone for sustaining ongoing manpower development initiatives within the Nigeria Police Force, reaffirming that promotions will be solely based on merit.

The IGP extended his sincere congratulations to all officers slated for promotion, urging them to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and service to the nation.

In related news, the IGP expressed concerns over the rise in murder cases, with 537 reported in the past eight weeks, highlighting the pressing need for concerted efforts to address insecurity across the country.
