The classification and identification of the various health care facilities in Nigeria is simply define by the location of establishment, the functions and the supervisory authority of each.
The idea of this classification was to ensure even distribution of HealthCare services, equity and easy access.
Regrettably, the aim has since been defeated due to the lukewarm attitude of some past Governments as almost all the aforementioned facilities in most states of the federation functions below average as a result of poor maintenance culture, weak supervision mechanism and above all inadequate funding and lack of political will.
In Kaduna State, the incumbent administration under the visionary and purposeful leadership of Senator Governor Uba Sani, which came to power barely less than a year ago, inherited Secondary Health System that have been turned to mere shadow of hospitals, full of unimaginable deterioration, structural dilapidation, devastation and decayed in all ramifications as well as operational inadequacies.
Above is the true state of all the General hospitals in Kaduna State and how each suffered close to a decade long neglect due to lack of political will towards maintenance of physical structures, provision of supporting equipments, sustained funding and inconsistent monitoring amongst other hindrance.
Indeed, mismanagement, inadequacies, inappropriate, carelessness and neglect have been the bane of development of Kaduna State Secondary health care system. Happy viewing:
