Military Court-Martial Convenes for 12 Personnel Over Tudun Biri Bombing

The Director of Defence Media Operations, Maj-Gen. Edward Buba, has disclosed that 12 personnel from the Nigerian Army are currently facing a court-martial in connection to the bombing tragedy at Tudun Biri in Kaduna State.

Maj-Gen. Buba made this announcement during a press briefing in Abuja on Thursday, shedding light on the ongoing efforts of the Armed Forces.

The incident in question occurred on December 3, 2023, resulting in the accidental deaths of 85 civilians due to military drone attacks in Tudun Biri, Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

Mr. Buba assured the public that the military is committed to ensuring accountability and justice for the victims. Following a thorough investigation, the decision was made to initiate disciplinary proceedings against those found responsible.

“The military has conducted a meticulous investigation into the incident and has commenced disciplinary action against the individuals implicated,” stated Mr. Buba.

He further clarified that the personnel involved will face a court-martial to address any acts of negligence or misconduct related to the incident. However, he refrained from providing further details, citing the ongoing legal proceedings.

Mr. Buba emphasized the military’s dedication to safeguarding non-combatants in future operations, underscoring the importance of stringent precautions to prevent such tragedies from occurring again.
