GWR: Nigerian lady completes 72-hour nail painting marathon in Plateau

Nigerian Woman Completes 72-Hour Nail Painting Marathon in Plateau, Aiming for Guinness World Record

Lisha Dachor, a 19-year-old nail painter from Plateau State, Nigeria, has successfully concluded her attempt to set a new Guinness World Record for the longest nail painting marathon by an individual.

During the event, dubbed a “nail-a-thon,” Dachor reportedly painted over 4,000 artificial nails within a span of 72 hours.

In a Facebook post on Thursday, she expressed her gratitude and excitement, stating, “Breaking barriers and setting records! Honored to have set a new milestone in the world of nail art with the longest marathon painting of artificial nails by an individual. Grateful for the journey and the incredible support.”

Dachor had announced her intention to undertake the challenge from April 28 to May 1 at Odilin’s Event Centre, behind the National Library in Jos, the capital of Plateau State. She also arranged free transportation for attendees to and from the venue.

In an interview with the BBC, Dachor shared her motivation for the record attempt, aiming to shine a positive spotlight on Plateau State. She emphasized the unity and support she received from people of all ethnic groups during her endeavor.

Additionally, Dachor highlighted her personal mission to challenge stereotypes, particularly about teen mothers like herself, by offering hope and inspiration through her achievements.

With the event concluded, Dachor now awaits the review of her attempt by the Guinness World Records, upon submission of evidence documenting her marathon nail-painting session.

The conclusion of the “nail-a-thon” drew celebrations and commendations from various individuals, including Plateau State Governor, Caleb Muftwang, who expressed pride in Dachor’s “record-breaking spirit” via his X.com handle.

Dachor’s achievement adds to a growing list of Nigerians making their mark in the Guinness World Records, including chess master Tunde Onakoya and social media entrepreneur Clara Kronborg, who set records earlier in the year.
