Gunmen Fatally Shoot Ebonyi Monarch During Community Invasion

In a tragic incident, gunmen have taken the life of His Royal Highness, Eze Umazi Ubani, a traditional ruler in Ebonyi State.

Eze Umazi Ubani served as the traditional ruler of Umuihe Community in Akaeze, located in the Ivo Local Government Area of the state.

Residents reported that the monarch fell victim to the gunmen’s attack when they invaded the community on Friday night, resulting in intense gunfire.

The terrifying situation prompted frightened residents to seek safety, as the violence unfolded in their midst.

Confirming the incident, Chinasa Okorie, the Coordinator of Akaeze Development Centre, expressed deep sorrow over the monarch’s killing, highlighting the irreplaceable loss to the community.

Describing Eze Umazi Ubani as a bold, fearless, and intelligent leader, Okorie emphasized the significant gap his demise leaves in the community, local government, and the state.

Sinbad Ogbuatu, another community leader, revealed that the upheaval forced shop owners in a nearby market to close their businesses temporarily.

The Ebonyi State Police Command, through its spokesperson DSP Joshua Ukandu, confirmed the attack and pledged active efforts to apprehend the perpetrators.

Despite the assailants evading capture initially, law enforcement agencies have initiated a thorough investigation to bring those responsible for this heinous crime to justice.
