SKY Girls Unveils “Journey to Bloom” Series in Kaduna

By Milcah Tanimu

Kaduna hosted a major event on August 24, 2024, as SKY Girls debuted its new eight-part series, *Journey to Bloom*, at Bridge Park Cinema. The premiere was attended by distinguished guests and underscored SKY Girls’ commitment to addressing important issues faced by teenage girls in Nigeria.

The series, supported by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, aims to tackle key topics such as financial literacy, sexual and reproductive health, and personal empowerment. It seeks to foster important discussions and provide educational content that resonates with Nigerian teenagers.

*Journey to Bloom* centers on the lives of two teenage girls at Blooming Heights College, navigating the challenges of adolescence amidst societal and familial pressures. The cast includes emerging talents like Ayomide Boluwatife (Tife), Judith Ushi (Naima), Isoken Aruede (Jibs), Wonuola Lanre Akinremi (Yomi), Nadia Dutch (Bibi), and Samson Imanah (Kunle), whose performances add depth and realism to the series.

Benedicta Ogbian, Account Director of SKY Girls Nigeria, shared her excitement about the project: “The series captures the essence of what SKY Girls represents—empowering young girls to be authentic while addressing their specific challenges. Our cast has delivered performances that are both engaging and impactful.”

The series is particularly relevant in Northern Nigeria, where data from UNICEF shows a significant number of girls out of school. With over 7.6 million out-of-school girls in Nigeria, nearly half in the North West and North East, the series’ focus on financial literacy and reproductive health is timely and critical.

*Journey to Bloom* will air every Saturday at 6:30 p.m. on Africa Magic Family and on the SKY Girls YouTube page. This new series is part of SKY Girls Nigeria’s broader mission to drive positive change and awareness on issues impacting the youth.

Through various initiatives like magazines, TV shows, and community events, SKY Girls Nigeria remains dedicated to empowering young women and addressing important social issues.
