North Central APC Condemns Gov Sule’s Endorsement of Ganduje, Citing Selfish Interests

By Isreal Adamu, Jos

The North Central All Progressives Congress (APC) Forum has strongly criticized the endorsement of the embattled National Chairman of the party, Abdullahi Ganduje, by the Chairman of the North Central Governors’ Forum and Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule.

Speaking to the press at the forum’s headquarters in Jos, Plateau State, on Saturday, the Chairman, Alhaji Saleh Zazzaga, said Governor Sule’s visit to the party secretariat in Abuja on Friday to pledge his support for Ganduje was motivated by selfish and personal interests, rather than the interests of the North Central region, the APC, or President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

Zazzaga emphasized that the endorsement by Governor Sule, especially when party stakeholders from the region are advocating for the return of the National Chairmanship position to the North Central, is not only insensitive and mischievous but also a betrayal of the entire region.

Zazzaga, who was also a member of the Presidential Campaign Council in the last election, pointed out that Governor Sule is well aware that the National Chairmanship position, according to the party’s zoning arrangement, should be held by someone from the North Central region after the resignation of Abdullahi Adamu, who is from the same region and state as Governor Sule.

“For Governor Sule to openly betray his state and the entire region shows that he is not committed to the progress of his own state, the North Central region, and he is not a man of equity and justice,” Zazzaga stated.

He also criticized Governor Sule’s understanding of the APC’s progressive ideology, noting that Sule is not a founding member of the party and has been acting contrary to the expectations of party stakeholders and supporters.

Zazzaga further questioned Governor Sule’s contributions to the progress of the APC in Nasarawa State, highlighting the party’s underperformance in the 2023 elections under his leadership.

He called on all North Central governors to disassociate themselves from Governor Sule’s endorsement of Ganduje, stressing that Sule’s actions are driven by selfish interests and not the interests of the North Central region.

Zazzaga also accused Governor Sule of not being a firm supporter of President Bola Tinubu and suggested that Sule’s endorsement of Ganduje could be an attempt to undermine Tinubu’s administration, citing the legal liabilities and other disaffections associated with Ganduje as National Chairman.
