Oshiomhole’s Legacy in Edo State Condemned, Forum Warns Against Okpebholo

The Edo South Business Forum has strongly criticized Senator Monday Okpebholo, the APC governorship candidate, for his recent pledge to continue the legacy of former governor Adams Oshiomhole. The forum described Oshiomhole’s tenure as “the worst in the history of Edo State,” accusing him of promoting thuggery, lacking empathy, and failing to attract meaningful investments.

Osazuwa Imafidon, the Chairman of the Forum, warned that Okpebholo’s promise signals a potential return to the “dark days of governance” under Oshiomhole. He cited the former governor’s notorious “Go and die” remark to a widow, which became a national symbol of what Imafidon called Oshiomhole’s harsh leadership style.

The forum further condemned Oshiomhole’s treatment of teachers during a controversial verification exercise, labeling it as humiliating and fostering a culture of fear. They argued that Oshiomhole’s administration promoted thuggery, undermined the rule of law, and failed to deliver sustainable economic growth, leaving a legacy of missed opportunities.

Imafidon urged Edo voters to reject Okpebholo at the polls, arguing that the state deserves leadership that values dignity and aims to build a future for all residents, not just a select few.
