Tolu Ajayi and Abiola Sobo Team Up for Showmax Original Drama Series ‘Princess on a Hill’

By   Milcah   Tanimu

Acclaimed Nollywood directors Tolu Ajayi and Abiola Sobo have joined forces for a new Showmax original series, “Princess on a Hill,” set to premiere in November 2024. This highly anticipated drama will explore themes of power, ambition, and the costs of success.

The announcement was made during the 2024 MIP Africa festival in Cape Town, which is part of Fame Week Africa, a celebration of African television, music, and film. “Princess on a Hill” follows Zara, a young woman whose life dramatically changes after winning the Lawson Group’s Leading Ladies reality show. As Zara grapples with her newfound fame, she faces the daunting task of saving the company that propelled her into the spotlight, all while contending with the ruthless CEO, Moyosore Lawson.

Ajayi describes the series as a modern African interpretation of a mythical tale, blending business boardrooms with the intrigue of royal courts. Sobo adds that the series will delve into the degradation of innocence and the quest for validation through relatable African characters.

Featuring a star-studded cast including Onyinye Odokoro, Bimbo Manuel, and Ireti Doyle, “Princess on a Hill” promises to deliver a rich cinematic experience. MultiChoice West Africa’s Busola Tejumola highlights the series’ commitment to high production values and authentic Nigerian storytelling.
