Borno State Governor Babagana Umara Zulum led a delegation of dignitaries, including Senate President Godswill Akpabio, to the inauguration reception of Senator Kaka Shehu Lawal as a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN).

The reception took place on Monday at the A-Class Event Centre in Wuse 2, Abuja, and was attended by many prominent figures, according to a release from SSA New Media Abdurrahman Bundi on Tuesday.

Governor Zulum praised Senator Lawal’s dedication and hard work, stating that the conferment of the SAN title marks a significant milestone in his distinguished career. “It’s no surprise he’s reached the pinnacle of his career,” Zulum remarked.

He highlighted their shared experiences as commissioners under Senator Kashim Shettima’s governorship, describing Lawal’s performance as “second to none.”

The governor urged Lawal to “look inward and train more people from Borno State to become SANs” to develop local talent and promote legal excellence in the state. He assured Lawal, “As governor, I’ll create an enabling environment for this to happen.”

Zulum prayed for Lawal’s continued wisdom and guidance in his career.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio described Lawal as “a good ambassador, a seasoned legal practitioner, a detribalized Nigerian, an advocate of the masses, and a dependable ally.” Akpabio also praised Lawal’s impressive tenure in the National Assembly.

The event attracted prominent Borno dignitaries, including Senator Mohammed Tahir Monguno, Senator Abubakar Kyari, the ministers of agriculture and food security, Alhaji Ali Bukar Dalori, the national vice chairman (North) of the All Progressive Congress (APC), and Hon. Ayuba Bello, the Borno State APC chairman.

Governor Zulum expressed gratitude to all attendees, including senators, House of Representatives members, ministers, Borno State Chief Judge Justice Kashim Zannah, Barrister Huwa Abubakar, Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in Borno State, Barr. Mustapha Ali Busuguma (PPS), and Rt. Hon. Abdulkarim Lawan, Speaker of the Borno State House of Assembly, who led the members present at the occasion.
