NTAC DG Urges Support for Tinubu Administration, Celebrates National Day

By Jabiru Hassan, Kano

The Director General of the Nigerian Technical Aid Corps (NTAC), Rt. Hon. Yusuf Buba Yakub, has called on Nigerians to continue their support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other leaders across the country. He emphasized that such support encourages leaders to perform at their best for their respective constituencies.

In a message marking this year’s National Day celebration, delivered on Tuesday in Abuja, Buba congratulated President Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, leaders of the National Assembly, the judiciary, and all Nigerians on the commemoration of the nation’s Independence Day.

He noted that the 64th anniversary of Nigeria’s Independence provides an opportunity for stock-taking and projecting future goals. “This anniversary is a time to reflect on our achievements as a nation and to envision the landmark milestones we hope to reach in the coming years,” he stated.

Buba remarked that the lifespan of any nation-state is measured in thousands of years, and after just 64 years of independence from colonial rule, Nigeria has visible reasons to celebrate.

“I am aware that it is common to compare ourselves with other nations that do not share our size or diversity. However, a factual analysis of our demographics, the plurality of our religions, and our ethnic diversity reveals that no other nation possesses our uniqueness.

“With nearly 250 million people and over 300 ethnic groups speaking more than 400 languages, we must recognize that this uniqueness brings both advantages and challenges. Our ability to navigate these complexities is a testament to what we can achieve as a nation.”

He added that this year’s National Day celebration serves as a reminder to assess how far Nigeria has come and to project future aspirations for the next ten, twenty, thirty, or even fifty years.

“While some may argue that we are not where we ought to be, it is subjective to determine where that ideal state should be. Nigeria at 64 remains a success story, regardless of different perspectives.”

Buba emphasized the importance of peace in national development, urging Nigerians to commit to fostering peace within their communities. “We must support initiatives that build peace, as development naturally follows a peaceful environment.”

He reiterated the necessity of supporting leaders at all levels, citing global examples where development flourished due to strong support for leadership, including countries like Singapore, China, and Rwanda.

“I wish everyone a fun-filled celebration. Happy Independence Day Anniversary, Nigerians!”
