Senator Jonathan Zwingina Passes Away at 70

Jonathan Zwingina, a former Senate Majority Leader, has reportedly passed away at the age of 70. Zwingina, who also served as the Director-General of MKO Abiola’s campaign organization during the June 12, 1993, presidential election, was said to have died on Wednesday, October 2, in Abuja after a prolonged illness.

Though his family has not yet officially confirmed the news, Leadership Newspaper reported his passing. Born in Adamawa State, Zwingina represented the Adamawa South Senatorial District in the Senate. He was a founding member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) before later joining the All Progressives Congress (APC).
