Kaduna State Donates 10,000 Tree Seedlings to Nigerian Defence Academy

By Achadu Gabriel, Kaduna

The Kaduna State Government has donated 10,000 tree seedlings to the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) to support its tree planting initiative aimed at environmental sustainability.

During the presentation ceremony at the State Secretariat, the Commissioner of Environment and Natural Resources, Hon. Abubakar Buba, highlighted the state government’s commitment to environmental preservation and its responsibility to future generations.

“This initiative not only reflects our dedication to environmental sustainability but also demonstrates our responsibility to safeguard the future for generations to come,” said Hon. Buba. He emphasized the vital role trees play in the ecosystem by providing clean air, combating climate change, and enhancing biodiversity.

“By planting and nurturing these seedlings, we’re taking a significant step towards preserving our natural heritage and promoting a healthier planet,” he added.

The Commissioner commended the Nigerian Defence Academy’s ongoing efforts in biodiversity conservation, noting that these actions are timely, especially given the growing environmental challenges posed by climate change. He further stated that the Academy’s efforts will complement the Kaduna State Government’s commitment to combating environmental issues affecting the state. “Each seedling represents hope—a hope for a greener Kaduna,” he concluded.

In response, the Commandant of the Nigerian Defence Academy, Major General J. O. Ochai, expressed his gratitude to the Kaduna State Government after receiving the 10,000 indigenous tree seedlings. He reassured the Academy’s continued commitment to partnership with the state government in its environmental conservation efforts, describing the collaboration as fruitful and productive.
