Libya Head Coach Explains Why His Team Isn’t Ready for Super Eagles Clash

By Daniel Edu

Libya’s national football team head coach, Nasser Al-Hadiri, has voiced concerns over his team’s lack of preparation for the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Nigeria.

Al-Hadiri, who leads the Mediterranean Knights, pointed out that injuries and suspensions have left the squad shorthanded, with several key players missing. Additionally, some top players have reportedly decided to boycott the crucial home-and-away matches.

In a recent press conference, the coach admitted that these absences have hindered his ability to implement a solid tactical plan. He acknowledged that the team has not yet reached the level of readiness required to take on a formidable opponent like Nigeria.

“We have not yet reached the required level of readiness to face a strong team like Nigeria,” Al-Hadiri stated. “The team was not in good shape before I took over, and the absence of several players in our first training sessions has made it difficult to establish a comprehensive tactical plan for the game.”

Libya will face the Super Eagles at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo on Friday, October 11, with the return leg taking place four days later in Benina.
