Governor Yusuf’s Swift Intervention Restores Stability at Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital

By Jabiru Hassan, Kano

Kano State Governor Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf has successfully reinstated full services at the Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital following his timely intervention.

In a statement from the Governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the Chairman of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) Kano Chapter, Dr. Abdurrahman, confirmed that services had resumed, speaking at a press briefing at the Kano Government House. Dr. Abdurrahman explained that the decision to suspend the strike was reached after a productive meeting with Governor Yusuf, which resolved tensions stemming from a recent misunderstanding between a hospital doctor and a state commissioner.

Expressing his gratitude for the governor’s prompt response, Dr. Abdurrahman commended Yusuf’s decisive action, which prevented further disruptions to critical healthcare services. He urged Kano residents to channel any complaints through appropriate authorities, assuring them that any disputes involving patients and healthcare providers would be fairly investigated and addressed.

Earlier in the week, during a live radio interview, Governor Yusuf had appealed to the hospital’s doctors to reconsider the strike, emphasizing the risks to vulnerable patients, particularly pregnant women and children requiring urgent medical care.
