By Anne Azuka

The Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly and National Treasurer of the Conference of Speakers of State Houses of Assembly in Nigeria, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, has called for collective efforts to ensure a safer and more prosperous Delta State.

Rt. Hon. Guwor made the call during his goodwill message at the 5th lecture series of the Delta Online Publishers Forum (DOPF), held in Asaba, the state capital. He was represented at the event by his Chief Press Secretary (CPS), Mr. Nkem Nwaeke.

The Speaker described the theme of the lecture, “Security Challenges: Finding a Local Implementable Solution,” as timely and aligned with the aspirations of the state government.

“I commend your commitment to promoting informed discourse and seeking solutions to our state’s challenges. Your efforts are invaluable in shaping public opinion and influencing policy decisions,” Guwor said.

He emphasized that the Delta State House of Assembly remains committed to supporting initiatives that prioritize the security and well-being of the state’s citizens. He highlighted the importance of collaborative efforts between government, media, and civil society in tackling security challenges.

Call for Actionable Recommendations

Representing Warri South West Constituency, Rt. Hon. Guwor urged the organizers to use the platform to present actionable recommendations that would contribute to the legislative agenda of the State House of Assembly. He reminded them of the agenda, which was launched by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori during the 1st anniversary of the 8th Assembly.

“Their expertise and insights are crucial in helping us develop effective solutions to security challenges,” he added.

The Speaker also congratulated the Emmanuel Enebeli-led DOPF for its significant role in the development of the state.

“On behalf of the Delta State House of Assembly, I extend warm greetings and congratulations on this milestone event. I wish you fruitful deliberations and look forward to the outcomes of your discussions,” he concluded.
