Kebbi Polytechnic to Introduce NCE, Computer, and Remedial Courses in 2025

By Abigail Philip David

Kebbi State Polytechnic, Dakingari (KBSPD), is set to introduce National Certificate in Education (NCE), Computer, and Remedial courses in the 2025 academic session.

The announcement was made by the institution’s rector, Dr. Abubakar Boyi Dalatu, during a press briefing in his office at Dakingari. He explained that the initiative aims to provide educational opportunities for rural residents, particularly young girls and adult women, alongside men, enabling them to obtain NCE and Computer Science qualifications. The remedial program is designed for individuals seeking to address deficiencies in their O-Level results.

The NCE program will offer combined courses such as Physics/Chemistry, Biology/Chemistry, Mathematics/Computer, and Computer Science, expanding academic options for prospective students.

Dr. Dalatu also revealed that the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) recently approved four new National Diploma (ND) programs for the polytechnic. These include Library Science, Public Administration, Computer Science, and Fisheries.

“Previously, we were not integrated into the technological system. Today, our polytechnic has established a digital portal for admissions and other processes, aligning us with the standards of higher institutions across the country,” he said.

He expressed gratitude to Governor Nasir Idris for continued funding and support, which has sustained the institution since its inception. He also lauded the NBTE and Tetfund for their interventions, which he noted have significantly enhanced the quality of education and learning facilities at the polytechnic.
