Benue State Government is to establish satellite campuses of the Benue State University, in Benue North East and Benue South Senatorial Districts to bring education closer to the people and to cater for the growing demand for higher education in the rural areas.
The Governor of Benue, Rev Fr Hyacinth Alia, who made this pronouncement at the university’s convocation during combined convocation of the institution, noted that the expansion will enhance access to education and strengthen the university’s role in developing the human capital base.
In a statement by the Chief Press Secretary, Tersoo Kula, Governor Alia, said thus “this strategic expansion will enhance access to education and strengthen the university’s role in developing the human capital base across the state “.
The Visitor to the University, also announced the donation of five hundred computers to the institution’s computer base test center. He awarded scholarship to all the masters degree graduands who came up with first class degrees, charging them to be good ambassadors of the university by upholding the values of integrity and hard work.
The Governor informed the gathering that his administration has forwarded an executive bill to the Benue State House of Assembly for the renaming of the university as Reverend Father Moses Adasu University as a away of honoring the founder of the institution
