Army Rescues Four Kidnap Victims in Delta

Troops of the Nigerian Army’s 63 Brigade successfully rescued four kidnap victims from a hideout in Ugbolu Forest, Delta State, following a coordinated operation based on credible intelligence.

The rescue mission, which occurred on Monday, December 9, 2024, involved a fierce gun battle between the soldiers and the kidnappers, resulting in the criminals being overpowered.

In a statement released on Wednesday by the Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, Major Emmanuel Onoja, the victims were freed, given immediate medical attention, and later reunited with their families.

The statement read:
“In a bold and decisive operation, troops of the 63 Brigade, Nigerian Army, successfully rescued four kidnap victims during a raid on a kidnappers’ hideout in Ugbolu Forest, Delta State.

“Acting on credible intelligence, the troops launched the operation, engaging the kidnappers in a fierce gun battle. The rescued victims received medical attention before being reunited with their families.

“Reports reveal the victims had been held captive for several days, with the kidnappers demanding large ransom payments for their release. The swift action of the troops thwarted the criminals’ plans, bringing relief to the victims and their families.”

The Nigerian Army emphasized its commitment to combating criminal activities and ensuring public safety, urging citizens to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to security agencies promptly.

The statement concluded, “The 63 Brigade is resolute in its efforts to eliminate all forms of criminality in Delta State and secure the lives of its citizens.”
