By Jabiru Hassan, Kano

The Speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Jibril Ismail Falgore, has expressed optimism about the state’s legislative strides in 2025, pledging to prioritize quality and impactful legislation aimed at enhancing the lives of Kano residents.

In a statement released by his spokesperson, Kamaluddeen Sani Shawai, on Wednesday, Falgore described 2025 as a year filled with potential for robust law-making and effective oversight functions by the Assembly.

Reflecting on the Assembly’s achievements in 2024, the Speaker noted, “We have laid a solid foundation by passing over 20 bills and sponsoring more than 217 motions. These have addressed critical areas such as education, water supply, healthcare services, and more, ensuring tangible improvements in the lives of our people.”

Falgore emphasized the Assembly’s commitment to its core functions: law-making, representation, and oversight of government ministries, departments, and agencies. He assured the public that, despite economic challenges, the legislative body remains dedicated to enacting policies that uplift the standard of living across Kano State.

Highlighting recent accomplishments, he mentioned the passage of several critical bills, including the Kano State Pension and Gratuity Amendment Bill 2024, the Yusuf Maitama Sule University Amendment Bill 2024, and the 2025 Appropriation Bill.

“As we conclude 2024, we are proud of our contributions and determined to do even more in 2025. This year will be a watershed for the Kano State House of Assembly in terms of quality legislation and unparalleled commitment to good governance,” Falgore stated.

He extended his warmest New Year wishes to the people of Kano State, assuring them of continued dedication from the Assembly in delivering impactful and transformative governance.

“The year 2025 will be a landmark period for the people of Kano as we focus on delivering legislation that drives development and improves lives,” he concluded.
