The House of Representatives Committee on Army has vowed to provide the Nigerian Army with the necessary support to address the country’s growing insecurity challenges.
Chairman of the committee, Aminu Balele, made the pledge after a meeting with Olufemi Oluyede, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), who appeared before the lawmakers to defend the army’s 2025 budget.
“We are committed to unwavering support, fostering cooperation, and standing in solidarity with our military counterparts,” Balele said.
The committee emphasized its focus on ensuring the welfare of troops, improving power provisions, and promoting capacity-building efforts across all levels.
Balele added that the committee had thoroughly reviewed the 2024 budget performance and expressed satisfaction with its execution, noting that the army had achieved over 99 percent of its goals.
Ahead of the 2025 budget, Balele revealed that the committee had asked several key questions regarding the country’s security situation. He stressed the need for immediate action to address insecurity across the nation.
The lawmaker reiterated the committee’s commitment to supporting the army in its efforts to enhance security and restore stability throughout Nigeria.
