Tinubu Approves N50 billion Naira for provision of water in Abuja satellite towns – Wike

By Joyce Remi-Babayeju

The FCT Minister Barr. Nyesom Wike has disclosed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved 50 billion Naira for the provision of water in Abuja satellite towns.

Wike made this known on Thursday at the Commissioning ceremony of the Kuje road , which he said has been abandoned by previous administrations.

The FCT Minister revealed that as part of efforts to end water shortage in parts of the territory the administration had signed a Memorandum of Understanding, MoU, with a Chinese Comany CGC, to provide water to satellite towns, including the Kuje Area Council .

” So in this years budget, Mr. President has provided the sum of 50 billion Naira to provide water to the satellite towns, in which Kuje would be a beneficiary.”

The provision of water to satellite towns is part of the
Renewed Hope Iniative of Mr. President to bring back the hope of the people, he
emphasized.

The minister who was thrilled at the crowd of happy residents announced that President Tinubu has also approved the continuation of Kuje road to Pegi and other communities, adding that hopefully it will be presented in the statutory budget of 2025 for final approval.

According to Wike, construction of the Kuje road was an outcome of stakeholders meeting with the traditional rural and people’s engagement on what they want.

“Your traditional ruler said this, “we want this road to be dualized. ” I said, “Consider it done. I’m going to bring back hope to you, ” ha said.

According to the minister, the erstwhile abandoned Kuje road alone was awarded by the previous administration at a cost of over 59 billion Naira to Arab contractors.

The minister who said that he had a smooth drive on the new road down to Kuje promised the residents that by the time the road is completed most of them would not need to leave Kuje to go to FCT.
