712 Police Constables Graduate from Training School in Sokoto

By Muhammad Ibrahim, Sokoto

In line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s continued commitment to strengthening the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) by addressing manpower deficits, a total of 712 police constables graduated from the Police Training School in Farfaru, Sokoto State, on Thursday.

The graduating constables include officers from Sokoto, Kebbi, and Zamfara states. This event is part of the nationwide 2022 recruitment scheme, which involved 10,000 trainees completing their training across the country.

Representing the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, NPM, Ph.D., at the ceremony was Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) Abubakar Lawal Doura, fdc, from Zone 10 Headquarters.

Speaking at the event, AIG Doura stated, “Today’s occasion marks a significant milestone in the Nigeria Police Force’s recruitment drive. This event, taking place concurrently in four premier colleges and 12 police training schools nationwide, marks the culmination of a six-month rigorous training program that tested the recruits physically and intellectually.”

He added, “In line with the community policing principles of the current administration, a significant majority of the newly graduated constables will be deployed to their states of origin. This strategic posting aims to enhance law enforcement efforts and combat crime effectively at the grassroots level. I am confident these officers will exhibit professionalism, integrity, and dedication to service, thereby upholding the honour and prestige of the Police Force.”

The AIG expressed gratitude to the governors of Sokoto, Kebbi, and Zamfara states for their unwavering support, as well as to sister security agencies for their ongoing collaboration and synergy.

In a statement, the Zone 10 spokesperson, DSP Usman Yaqub Muhammad, also thanked community members for supporting community policing initiatives, emphasizing its importance as a non-kinetic approach to reducing crime in the zone.

This graduation marks another step in bolstering the manpower and operational capabilities of the Nigeria Police Force to ensure safety and security nationwide.
