Davido Slams Osun Police Commissioner Over LG Crisis, Vows to Keep Calling Him Out

By Abigail Philip David

Nigerian music star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has publicly criticized Osun State’s Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Umar Abba, accusing him of failing to uphold the rule of law amid the ongoing local government crisis in the state.

The controversy follows violent clashes on Monday, which led to the tragic killing of former Irewole Local Government Chairman, Remi Abass, along with two others, after unidentified gunmen stormed the local government secretariat in Ikire.

The incident comes after Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke—who is also Davido’s uncle—raised concerns about an alleged plot by the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) to forcefully take over local government secretariats. The governor accused APC leader and Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Gboyega Oyetola, of orchestrating the chaos, while also alleging that security agencies in the state were complicit.

Reacting to the crisis, Davido took to social media on Monday to vent his frustration at the police commissioner, threatening to continue calling him out until he is removed from office.

“MAN STEP ASIDE!!! Game on!!! Oya men mount!! WHY ARE YOU GOING AGAINST THE RULE OF LAW!! I will post you every day till they sack you!!! You think say na only you mad abi? I mad pass,” he wrote.

In a follow-up post, the singer intensified his attack, branding the commissioner a “disgrace.”

“Mr Umar Abba, Osun State Commissioner, you are a disgrace to your children!!! Game on… All of us go mad together!! Werey!!!” Davido posted.

Known for his strong political stance, particularly in support of his uncle’s administration under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Davido continued his outburst, warning the commissioner to respect the rule of law.

“Mr Commissioner, respect the rule of law!!! You are not madder or crazier than us!! Make we all kuku mad!! MEN MOUNT WALAI TO KRF!!! I will post you every day everywhere Mr man!!! Try me fucker,” he added.

Davido’s comments have sparked widespread reactions, with many Nigerians engaging in debates about the role of law enforcement in the crisis and the larger implications for governance in Osun State.
