South-South Leaders Dismiss Rift Between Akpabio and Akpoti-Uduaghan

▪ Call Senate President a Moral Leader
▪ Laud Kogi Central Senator for Her Intelligence, Self-Control, and Strong Voice

South-South leaders have dismissed speculations of a rift between Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, describing their relationship as cordial and professional.

In a statement issued on Sunday after a meeting in Calabar, the leaders condemned what they termed as “irresponsible and malicious” attempts to create division between the two lawmakers.

“We know that the Senate President does not have anything against Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, contrary to the insinuations of political mercenaries,” said Chief John Harry, National Chairman of the South-South Front.

They also criticized groups attempting to distort recent developments in the Senate, warning against introducing “dangerous dimensions” to parliamentary discussions.

“These smear campaigns aim to tarnish the distinguished senators’ reputations and create unnecessary tension,” the statement added.

The leaders commended Akpabio’s inclusive leadership style and the positive atmosphere he has fostered in the Senate, while also praising Akpoti-Uduaghan for her courage, intelligence, and unwavering dedication to the country’s progress.

“There is no amount of blackmail, name-calling, or intimidation from fictitious groups that could derail Akpoti-Uduaghan’s path,” they declared.

The leaders urged Nigerians, particularly those from the South-South and North Central regions, to support both lawmakers in their contributions to national development.
