Former presidential aide Reno Omokri has called on Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, to offer a job to Ushie Rita Uguamaye, the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member who recently criticized President Bola Tinubu’s administration over economic hardship.
Omokri made this challenge after Obi publicly expressed support for Uguamaye, who reportedly faced backlash from NYSC officials for her remarks on the country’s economic situation.
Omokri’s Challenge to Peter Obi
In a post shared on his Instagram page, Omokri questioned Obi’s endorsement of Uguamaye, arguing that if Obi truly admired her courage and values, he should offer her employment in one of his companies.
“Peter Obi has several companies. I urge him to put his money where his mouth is. If he thinks that Ushie Rita Uguamaye, also known as Raye, displayed good upbringing and the right moral virtues, then I challenge him to offer her automatic employment in any of his companies. That way, she can bring that attitude, which he now so admires, into his businesses and teach all his employees to behave like her.”
Omokri’s statement comes amid ongoing public reactions to Uguamaye’s comments, which highlighted the economic struggles faced by Nigerians. While some have praised her courage, others believe she violated NYSC’s code of conduct by making political statements during her service year.
This latest exchange adds to the ongoing political debate surrounding freedom of speech, youth activism, and government accountability.
