Ncdmb Resolves Enerog, Ugbo 1 Communities Dispute in Yenagoa

By Amgbare Ekaunkumo, Yenagoa

The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) successfully mediated a critical resolution meeting  at the Nigerian Content Tower in Yenagoa, addressing a dispute between Enerog Limited and the 14 host communities of Ugbo 1.

The tensions stemmed from alleged breaches of the Freedom to Operate (FTO) agreement, including the unauthorized deployment of a houseboat, failure to engage community-nominated vendors, and non-compliance with agreed terms.

Enerog Limited attributed some of the issues to internal conflicts within the communities, which they claimed had hindered effective collaboration.

After constructive dialogue, both parties reached an agreement. Enerog committed to settling outstanding payments within 10 days and submitting a formal resolution document to NCDMB.

The company also pledged to strengthen partnerships with the communities to ensure smoother operations moving forward.

The host communities, in response, agreed to submit a verified list of contractors to promote transparency and structured engagement.

This step is expected to streamline vendor selection and foster trust between Enerog and the communities. The resolution marks a significant milestone in addressing longstanding grievances while aligning with NCDMB’s mandate to promote local content and equitable partnerships in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector.

The meeting was attended by key NCDMB officials, including Barr. Esueme Dan Kikile, General Manager of Capacity Building, and Mr. Ifeanyi Ukoha, General Manager of Zonal Coordination, alongside other staff.
