“I Sell Okrika, Not a Native Doctor” — Enugu Man Ezeani Denies Ritual Killing Allegations

Obi Levi Obieze, popularly known as Ezeani from Enugu State, has denied accusations of kidnapping and ritual killings following his recent arrest.

Obieze was apprehended while trying to flee Nigeria via a land border on a motorcycle. He insists that the charges against him are politically motivated, aimed at sabotaging his bid for traditional leadership in his community.

The arrest came after authorities discovered human remains buried in a soakaway pit within Obieze’s compound, leading to suspicions of ritualistic killings tied to his alleged role as a native doctor—an identity he firmly rejects.

During questioning by immigration officials, Ezeani described the allegations as a political setup orchestrated by rivals opposed to his succession as king.

“It’s a political issue. People who don’t want me to become the next king are fabricating stories against me, trying to destroy my reputation,” he said.

When asked if he was a native doctor, Obieze responded, “No,” clarifying that he is a businessman who sells okirika (second-hand clothes).

He also accused the village chief and others of conspiring against him, claiming someone planted the body in his soakaway to frame him.

Obieze maintained his innocence and expressed confidence that justice will prevail: “I have a clear conscience. Those who are innocent need not fear. The God of vengeance will defend me.”
