The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has extended a gesture of solidarity and support to Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali, donating N20 million to assist with the burial expenses of his late parents.
Nwabali, who has been in mourning after losing both parents in quick succession—first his father and then his mother just months apart—has been granted compassionate leave by the federation. As a result, he was excused from the Super Eagles’ recent trip to Russia.
The NFF had earlier expressed condolences to the goalkeeper after his father’s passing. Following the loss of his mother, the federation once again conveyed its heartfelt sympathies, with NFF President Mohammed Sanusi acknowledging the emotional weight of losing both parents in such a short span of time.
The news of the NFF’s financial support was shared by sports photographer and media personality Pooja on social media.
“NFF has supported Super Eagles GK, Stanley Nwabali with N20m for his parents’ burial ceremony.
He was excused for the Russia trip because of this,” Pooja posted on X (formerly Twitter).
The donation underscores the NFF’s commitment to standing by its players not only on the pitch but also during personal hardships.
