Federal Polytechnic Wannune Upholds Zero Tolerance for Corruption — Rector

By Isaac Kertyo, Makurdi

The Rector of Federal Polytechnic Wannune, Benue State, Dr. Emmanuel Ashinya Tyover, has reaffirmed the institution’s policy of zero tolerance for corruption and cultism.

Speaking during a press briefing at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) House in Makurdi, Dr. Tyover dismissed claims that the polytechnic received one billion naira compensation from government for members of the host community. He also said the school has not recorded any case of cult activities.

The Rector emphasized his commitment to repositioning the polytechnic for academic excellence and infrastructural growth. He disclosed that 24 new departments have been introduced to ease the burden on indigenes who previously traveled long distances in search of quality education.

He commended the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND) for its interventions, revealing that over 70 lecturers are undergoing training, while younger academics are being encouraged to deepen their research.

Dr. Tyover noted that the polytechnic has so far graduated more than 150 students, many of whom benefited from the Federal Government’s NELFUND programme.

On infrastructure, he explained that his administration inherited an uncompleted structure at the permanent site but has since delivered key projects, including student hostels, lecture halls, and an administrative block.

In his remarks, Chairman of NUJ Benue Council, Comrade Bemdoo Ugber, commended Dr. Tyover for his visionary leadership and transparency in managing the institution.
