Thirteen players have reported to the Super Eagles’ camp in Ikot Ikpene as Nigeria steps up preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying matches against Rwanda and South Africa.
According to team media officer Promise Efoghe, nine new players — Alex Iwobi, Calvin Bassey, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, Ola Aina, Bright Osayi-Samuel, Moses Simon, Chidozie Awaziem, Adebayo Adeleye, and Benjamin Fredericks — checked in on Tuesday.
They joined the four early arrivals: William Troost-Ekong, Amas Obasogie, Felix Agu, and Raphael Onyedika.
Efoghe confirmed that 13 of the 23 invited players are now in camp, with 10 more expected between Tuesday night and Wednesday.
He also outlined the team’s media schedule, noting that a press conference with coaches and selected players will hold on Wednesday at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium training pitch, while Friday’s pre-match conference and the first 15 minutes of training will be open to journalists.
Players yet to arrive include goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali, defender Bruno Onyemaechi, midfielders Wilfred Ndidi and Frank Onyeka, as well as forwards Victor Osimhen, Ademola Lookman, Samuel Chukwueze, Cyriel Dessers, Christantus Uche, and Tolu Arokodare.
Nigeria will host Rwanda on Friday in Uyo before traveling to Bloemfontein to face South Africa on Monday.
The Super Eagles currently sit third in Group C with two points from two games, trailing South Africa and Rwanda, who both have four points. Only the group winner qualifies automatically for the 2026 World Cup in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico.
