NYCN Urges Support for Nasarawa Indigenes in Federal Appointments

By Abel Zwanke, Lafia

The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Nasarawa State Chapter, has called for calm and unity over recent protests and criticisms directed at prominent indigenes of the state holding federal appointments, particularly the Minister of Women Affairs, Hon. Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim.

Speaking in Lafia, the state chairman of NYCN, Comrade Jaafar Muhammad Loko, cautioned against orchestrated attacks on the Minister and other federal appointees from the state, warning that such actions could undermine their capacity to deliver on their mandates.

He urged the public, especially social media users and platforms like Nasarawa Mirror, to exercise restraint and avoid inflaming personal attacks.

Loko acknowledged the grievances expressed during the recent protest by staff of the Ministry of Women Affairs but appealed for constructive engagement instead of personality-targeted criticism.

“Their concerns about welfare and other issues are legitimate, but we believe these matters can be addressed through dialogue and not through personal attacks on the Minister,” he said.

The youth leader described federal appointees from Nasarawa as assets to the state, stressing that they deserve encouragement to perform effectively at the national level.

“As our representatives at the federal level, they are a valuable asset to our state, and we believe that they deserve our support. Rather than attacking their personalities, we should rally around them and provide constructive feedback,” Loko added.

He further appealed to stakeholders to maintain decorum in their interactions with federal appointees, noting that with unity and support, they can contribute meaningfully to the development of both the state and the nation.
